Arriving on the scene in 2009 with "Sunrise on Planet Tokyo" (Dirty Works Records), Rhythm Droid is one of the rare artists to have straddled the divide between the Japanese and Western club scenes, spreading the message of soulful live tech-funk and classic house.
Fighting to uphold the technically challenging and increasingly rare art of the "laptop-free live PA" (e.g. Detroit's Octave One), Rhythm Droid has performed over 50 times, covering the US, China, and Japan. Performances have the non-stop narrative feel of a DJ-set but never fail captivate partiers with the raw energy of live vocals, synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines. He has shared the stage with artists like Crystal Fighters (Kitsuné), Rennie Foster (Subject Detroit, F-Communications), Raíz (Droid), Keenhouse (Binary, Astralwerks), and Dexpistols (BMG, Avex). The Rhythm Droid sonic DNA is house and techno, but his attitude and performance style are shaped by the underground scene in Tokyo, with its love of raw synths, high energy, and nods to the glory days of classic house. Career highlights include a one-year residency in Tokyo's electro party series, "Bunny", and remixes for artists in the UK, France, and Japan. The Rhythm Droid remix of Sony Music Japan recording artist Shinichi Osawa's club banger "Zingaro" sustained over 29,000 hits on Soundcloud--leading to a live performance invitation. Full length album is currently in production.
