In January 2013, Every Generation Media will be publishing 'Masters Of The Airwaves: The Rise And Rise Of Underground Radio', a 12” square, full-colour book written and compiled by radio and club DJs Dave VJ and Lindsay Wesker.

It tells the story of the birth of black music radio in Britain in the seventies, which started out with a few music shows on legal radio, leading on to the underground radio boom, and culminating with legal, black music radio stations.

It tells of a time before the internet, before mobile phones, and before digital radio and TV. A time when die-hard black music fans had to work hard and travel far to hear the music they loved.

Lindsay and I have been DJ'ing together for more years than I care to recall, all the way back to the (legal) days at KISS 100.
A few days ago he e-mailed me a list of the 200 greatest underground tunes ever. In fact, the list was 350 long!! To say it's been a struggle to edit it down to a useable amount is an understatement! They were all so bloody good!

It is an honour and a pleasure to compile and mix this soundtrack.
