M. Patches was questioning if it was possible for Korra to not be The Avatar. The only avenue I see for that is the requirements for Avatar is "Mastery". The Avatar is the only one to Master the four elements. If Korra is unable to Master the four elements then I guess it's possible for someone else to emerge as the Avatar.But I doubt it. The flashbacks would indicate past life and if Korra is seeing Aang in her past life then she has to be the Avatar.
