Replay Beats a.k.a. DJ Replay (the original)

I'm a 25 year old recording engineer/producer/DJ/drummer/multi-media creator/entrepreneur and a 2012 CSU Chico Alumni!

I'm a military brat, so I consider myself from all over the States, but mostly I grew up in California and Maryland. I really started getting into beat making and music production when I was 12 years old, when I got my first Yamaha keyboard and Numark Turntables+Mixer. From there I started spending more time in music stores, buying different CD's, vinyl, and finding songs on the internet to add to my collection. I also would spend hours hanging out at Guitar Center while my Mom was at work in Sacramento. Within a year I started using Fruity Loops 3.5.6 and really developed my skill of creating sampled and original Hip-Hop compositions. At this point I had already been taking guitar lessons for a couple years, teaching myself piano, and soon decided to start learning to play the drums. I was basically on house-arrest by 13 years old, and so I dedicated a lot of my time to sharpening my skill not just with musical instruments and programs, but also with media programs that allowed me to create graphics, videos, power-points, etc. I started buying different equipment to build up my home studio in Davis, CA with money I made from a paper route, and quickly learned signal flow and the way to organize my work area. Not long after, I bought Pro-Tools 6 and a nice AKG condenser microphone, and started doing much higher quality recordings than I had previously been able to. I produced a handful of songs with a group of high-school friends called GSW (Golden State Warriors), but soon was sent to live with my Dad overseas in Germany for my Senior year of Highschool. I had also been visiting him in Arkansas for the previous 3 years, spending nearly a third of the year there, working as a grocery bagger on the Air Force Base, and being exposed to all kinds of different music and the Southern Hospitality culture. Once I moved to Germany, I met a lot of people from all over the states, but especially the South, Midwest, and Eastcoast, and was exposed to even more artists and musical styles I learned to love, all the while developing my skill as a musician/engineer. After Senior year, I moved back to California to go to Chico State to attend the Recording Arts and Music Industry program, which was said to be one of the best of it's kind in the nation. I spent 5 years there in college, learning the trade and learning even more about life. As I made my way through my degree program, I also started my own recording/editing/mixing/mastering business, a DJ service where I performed at many parties, shows, and social events, and became the first and only drummer for the band Eye-Que & Live Assist. The band went on to win three CAMMIE awards, including Best New Band in 2010 and Best Hip-Hop Act in 2010 & 2011. We eventually split up by 2012 for various reasons, but our EP and recorded videos of our live performances keep our legacy alive. Check out eye-queandliveassist.bandcamp.com to get our EP, which was recorded only 2 months after we became a band!

Now that I'm graduated, I'm just looking for steady income so I can continue to do what I love to do and continue playing my part to help save the world! I have many projects in mind, from producing full beat tapes and albums, producing films/documentaries, writing songs/lead sheets, books, creating web sites and app's, starting multiple companies and inventing new technology/starting an innovative tech. product line, and organizing many humanitarian projects that will help create a more sustainable future for past, present, and future generations. Stay Tuned! Namaste
