The electromyography is a technique of medical analysis of the muscle function allowing in particular to analyze them during the effort and the recovery; the obtained data are sound and graphic.
The muscular sounds recorded from an electrode inserted into a muscle have a dynamic very correlated at the effort obtained from this one; and these sounds which are directly obtained from the functioning of a muscle of a person in movement seemed to me particularly moving and interesting to exploit in a situation of sports effort.
The sportsman who supplies an effort, particularly when it is supported, intense and repeated emits his own sounds of a strong privacy, by their singularities and because they result from the deepest of the body, without social or cultural filter.
The electromyographic sound is also loaded with a certain intimacy because it is generated by the body itself in the instant of the movement which produces it.
The meeting of these two intimacies led to the composition of this song which mixes strictly efforts, breaths and recoveries in their almost gross expression of any treatment with the tone of muscles in actions recorded by electromyographic technique; an intimacy which, nevertheless, hides itself in the opened and public space of a sporting room from which I did not want to exclude the eminently social dimension.
I made the sound recordings of the sportsmen during training sessions in the room of an athletic strength club and the electromyographics recordings on volunteers curious to hear their own muscles in action.
