    Who has never spoken to a bird, an unexpected visitor of its garden, as to a friend. To speak to him without thinking and without answer?
    Since the first days, intense mimicries were developed and passed on until today to have a dialogue with the nature.

    Saint François from Assise, in the Middle Ages, according to the tradition, stopped on the road of Bevagna to call birds.

    Today, the use of bird calls, sublimated by rare initiated, is the incarnation of the human in this language which leads to a real collusive dialogue with animals.

    This saint François's legend and my meeting with a specialist of bird calls are the source of the composition of this play: " birds of Bevagna ".
    There are three main sound sources on this composition :
    -The sounds of bird calls, these small instruments of wood and metal using a varied organology (whistle of flute or ring , simple or double reed, mechanical frictions...),voluntarily to the exclusion of any natural birdsong.
    -The "sermon to birds " according to the French translation of the franciscan text by Thomas de Celano, Saint François’s biographer.
    -The flute with small pieces of acoustic composition stressing the mimicries with the songs of bird calls.

    Birds announce the earth; they unite the earth and the sky. It's a rustling and nomadic people who was born from the desert. Their song appears from the earth, on the surface of dust, in the breeze and the wind, at first brief, plaintive, as a shower, a rainbow.
    Look at the birds of the sky, doves, jays, ravens, warblers, chickadees, larks, blackbirds, nightingales and it's the abundant creation that you contemplate.
    Then François speaks to birds without fear of being not understood. No place for other words neither other tones that his own voice. Silence is back, as a bird stopping beating wings and landing, before the emergence of an enjoyment of the origins. This enjoyment is communicative; and we can understand the confidences of these animals, learning the secret of the earth and the sky as if by magic or by chance.
