Rose Bolton, Sonic Landscapist

Rose Bolton creates music for speakers, headphones, films, and concerts. She has a Masters Degree in Composition from McGill University in Montreal.

As a composer of electronic music, she has produced full soundtracks for four hour-long television documentaries for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation: The Disappearing Male, Surviving the Future, End of Men, and Who's Sorry Now?

Assisted by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, she recently completed a series of ambient “soundscapes” for headphone listening, as well as a companion piece which she will perform violin as part of a multiple speaker installation, which was presented at Toronto's 2011 Nuit Blanche all night festival of experimental art.

As a concert composer, her body of work spans from chamber music to vocal to symphonic. Many of her pieces have been broadcast on CBC radio, including a piece commissioned in 2009, performed by the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.
