About

REDROT. my first solo project, started around the year 2000. i was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia at age 19 years-old. i am still alive. i will be here.i still make INDUSTRIAL MUSIC just in case you couldn't tell. just because we have what you call a mental-illness, doesn't mean we're not smarter than you ;)

in the beginning the sound was extremely raw, everything was recorded to cassette tapes,a lo-fi hissing mess of electronics, tape-loops, scrap metal, screaming, and my old Roland R-8 drum machine.

the sound very much inspired (especially in the beginning) by Brighter Death Now, SPK, Godflesh, Swans, Atrax Morgue, Throbbing Gristle, Scorn, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, and many other artists of a similar, and extremely dark nature.

so my teenage obsessions with early-industrial, death-industrial, death-metal, crust-punk, grindcore and related genres have all had a hand in shaping this sound, though i do not affiliate myself within any of them.

i've never really fit in anywhere my whole life, and i'm completely content with that. so now i just let the sound come out, rather than create or borrow in the derivative sense. i make music that i would like to hear myself, and i'm very selfish about my art.

one can definitely hear similarities to my musical heroes of the past, although i feel that the influence is more or less subliminal, and it just comes out this way...

REDROT is still a very active project, i still perform live, and i'm always working on recordings. sooner or later i will have some new releases out. check them out where available, i won't just release everything i do, and everything released has a lot of time, energy, and my little rotten heart put into it.

thanks for listening...
