About

Despite her education in science, Reka a.k.a Rebeca leChic, showed a great interest in arts since she was very young: photography, graphic design and of course music among others... Unfortunately for her, she didn’t have the chance to learn how to play piano, guitar or any other instrument. Nevertheless, she started collecting music at the age of 7, always looking for an opportunity to share it anywhere, like any birthday party... She started with disco and italodisco hits, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Jackson, but also, J.M Jarre, Vangelis, Alan Parson, OMD or Depeche Mode… U2, The Cure…. Later on acid house and newbeat arrived. This way and without being aware, she was on club music at the age of 12. Afterwards, when raves and clubs arrived, she discovered the Dj figure and... Techno.

It wasn’t until she finished her degree in Genetics, having more free time and being eager to develop her artistic side, when she bought for the first time her turntables and started mixing at the end of 2003.

In Autumn 2004 she was offered to run a little club in Madrid, and toguether with her close friend Susana Muñoz they took care of every detail there. They called the club “LeChic”.

Very soon they were discovered by Dj Hell and in 2005 they joined the Gigolo family as the female dj duo named after the club, “LeChic”.

Two years later she had the privilege of being selected to participate in the 2007 edition of the RedBullMusicAcademy, which took place in Toronto, Canada.

In January 2008 “leMIx” is launched with Gigolo Records, the first dj set of leChic, which was very well received by the critics of the Spanish and international specialized press. After several years performing around Europe with leChic, she has recentlly decided to focus on the production of her debut album while colaborating as resident in Nature Club, 4Seasons or Obscurum sets.

She is influenced by italodisco, technopop, ebm, acidhouse, newbeat, punk, rock, numetal, old-school and true-electro, IDM, and of course techno and its endless variations; soft, minimalistic, dubby or harder and darker…. Huge fan of the Oldies, she is always opened to the new sounds, never minding where they come from, either how they were labelled, as long as it makes the crowd and herself enjoy.

As Reka she tends towards experimental/darker sounds showing a more personal vision of music either through IDM, tru-electro, dubstep or dark techno.

Recently she has released the track "Collapsed" in the ITEMS & THINGS compilation "Variables" as part of the project Troy+Reka together with Troy Pierce. Project that sounds like something between stripped down electro and raw techno, with a dash of disco, right where their tastes overlap.
