The crickets are dope man
-
@The Observer: haha they do sound like crickets I suppose - its actually a very slowed down sample of the BassStation

love the strings and the beat.
-
@Sleepdisorder: thank you - the strings are from KORG M1 - softer paddy ones are Xiosynth I think, filtered with MOOG white noise...
-
@Sleepdisorder: all the drum machine sounds (apart from kicks (although the 707 kick is in there a bit)) are from my TR-707 :)

nice punchy kick,the mastering really gives this more life.
-
@stephen roche: :) - yeh I used JB_Red_phatt_pro a lot on the kicks - in total there are 5 different kick-types in this I think lol - 707, 808, 909, mBase01 and an Absynth kick
- The Observer on April 08, 2009 18:10
@raytrace: Sounds very good, clean

- stephen roche on April 08, 2009 12:38
@d3ld0t: that bit gets me everytime.
-
@stephen roche: thank you d3ld0t :) - glad you like it - yeh Ste I found my head actually moving back and forth a bit when I was finishing it last nightitiyesterday - and believe me I've heard that bit probably a 1,000,000 times at this stage, so if it was still making my head move I suppose thats a good sign :p - I think the bit just before it 'drops' sounds like an elephant or something eheh
- The Observer on April 08, 2009 18:11
@d3ld0t : i like that comment hahahaha

great change in the texture -- lovely!
-
@Lush Puppy: thanks :) - I really wanted to emphasise the white noise in that bit to make it feel warm/dreamy...

Awesome. Lots of variance in your sound. More people should follow your example with this kind of music (myself included). Great effort.
-
@Spuddley: thank you very much indeed :D :)-<

one big adventure this man big one really nice But what is this somehow the finally version then ?
-
@The Observer: yeh certainly of this type with the strings - i might make a quick remix which would be just the wobbly bits or something though

Would love to know how you achieved this sound.
-
@Spuddley: if you're talking about the main acid wobbly bit thats a patch I made in Absynth then played around with while pitch-bending a lot, left Wavosaur recording while I did this, then brought it into Ableton and chopped it around a lot - theres a lot of compression on it too I think - if you're talking about the hi-hats - they're my TR-707 filtered through a MiniMOOG D - theres also a fair bit of autopan on them I think - and I think the phasey effect off the UAD CS-1 strip - that can be heard on the backwardsy clap bit too - :)
-
@raytrace: Hmmm... I may have the tools to give it a shot. I do everything in ableton though. I do have Absynth... but am not good at programming it yet.

Yep, this is nasty in all the good ways that a track can be nasty. The long development really paid off.
-

Nice loungey piano bit in there, really weird, and quite perfect
-
@MoPetto: loungey piano? :D - do you mean the strings or the bassline that comes in after here? thx anyway :)

i think you should do a remix and make that kickdrum bassline the main element.it would destroy.
-
@stephen roche: yeh I do like that mBase01 kick-based bassline - but I think it uses a lot of frequencies and would be difficult to put as a main part of a song - when I try to scoop it with EQ to try and 'seperate' it, it seems to lose a lot of its character too - maybe I should try again though - I was thinking of making a version which was just purely the Absynth-y wobbly bit and heavy beats - I might do that but also have some of this bassline in it for a bit - :)
