Volta - "It Comes In Waves" EP (RLR011)

5 tracks, 25.06 Raving Loony Records with Scup on September 12, 2011 21:59

As we approach the eleventh month of the eleventh year of this millenium, it only seems fitting that we shock you with our eleventh EP release, this time a bone-chilling five-parter from Canadian upstart Volta.

Get the defibrilator out.

We start our journey with Circus Welfare, a song fitting for an early sunset. You'll be whistling this one around the campfire.

Following that is the 303 banger Los! which will take you back to the days of spiky hairdos and dummys, but with a decidedly modern twist.

Nestled in the middle of the EP is Keyboard 47, a techy track with drive and some dangerous loose cables. Handle with care!

Overheating our ohmmeter is The Social, a rocky distorted straight up electro track that hits you with a 3 ball curve.

Finally we meet Dennis Castro, a jumpy groover with an ice cold break down and a message from Mars at the drop. Either I smell a hit, or someone's been electrocuted.

@Modek: "Special tunes. I do fancy Castro alot."
@JohnRoman- "A really solid EP man, i'm very impressed! I think 'Keyboard-47' is my favorite. 'Los!' is also a great acid banger."
@scntst - "I very like the dennis castro track, very cool!"
@RobDeLarge "So massive. Big Support."
@Germany Germany: "[Los!] reminds me of old Daft Punk-esque acid house."
@GMOROZOV: "I like Circus Welfare very much it has so sinister atmosphere I like. And Keybord 47 + Los! are REALLY GREAT!"
@StrobeHypnoticz - "What an adventure...it's nothing i have ever heard before which is rare these days. Amazing work, and stoked for the release!"
@needs "Nice acid EP! Our fav are 'Los!' and 'The Social'
