RaOol: The story so far...

D.Wunder (originally from Australia), first met Macks Wolf (hailing from the north of England) on MySpace in 2010. The pair initially met over a musical exchange on MySpace three years ago and quickly realized that they shared the same passion for big beats and soon began adding South Asian elements. Having first worked as a songwriting/production team for other artists the duo decided to step out of the shadows and claim the music they were making for themselves.

The RaOol genre

RaOol have worked relentlessly to find a sound that is distinctively their own. "Between us, we have an eclectic taste of music but there are certain parameters that we work within… the main thing is ensuring our music remains a true reflection of ourselves. In that way what we offer is more than beats and rhymes, it’s our personality on record." Naturally then, when you have a duo comprised of a songwriter/vocalist whose background is hip hop and a DJ/producer whose background is electronica, their sound was always going to meet somewhere in the middle.

Keen to draw on his Asian heritage and not just his Australian roots, D introduced Macks to the music of Indian film score composer Rahul Dev (R.D) Burman. Macks was an instant fan and in jest, suggested using the name 'Rahul' as the name of the duo. It stuck instantly, with D.Wunder coining the now renowned 'Raooooool' howl, from which the Wolf logo was then born.

The Vision

With the name "RaOol" and a distinctive sound in hand, the next step was to start bringing their vision to life, beginning with a debut single. "As two individuals that are incredibly fussy with everything, we were forced to working entirely in house... from writing, to recording, producing and styling… the full monty!" Furthermore, we don’t feel as though the listeners and viewers of our music should have to settle for less and so when investors/labels were not able to dig deep enough into their pockets we decided that we would be better off doing it ourselves Rather than being mediocre, we want to be part of a new generation of artists in the Asian music industry whose songs push boundaries and ventures into new frontiers. We have sports bra support for any like minded independent artists."
Set to Blow

Having produced and featured on Tasha Tah’s hit single “Malang,” RaOol are now “set to blow” with their ground breaking first official release. The single entitled ‘Meri Rani (Set to Blow)’ is a driving, distinctive track that is fast becoming synonymous with the ‘RaOol’ sound. Cutting no corners, the video accompanying the single will be released on 4k (twice the resolution of 1080p) a first for the UK Asian industry.

The fuse on this dynamite single is #Set to Blow on iTunes and all leading distributors on March 28th 2013.
