About

RAN/RUN is the new project from Pete Jones and Ryan Walsh, two Australian producers with two very different backgrounds. Meeting on the first day of university where Pete studied sound production/engineering and Ryan was a composition/conducting major, they played together in various groups over the course of their studies before going their separate ways in 2002. Pete went on to work in composition/sound design within the Australian film & television industry while Ryan went on to further study in Europe before settling in South America. They re-established contact through a chance email in 2007 and realised they had more in common than they first thought. By this time Pete was putting the finishing touches on his own studio and Ryan was planning a return to Australia after finishing work with the Venezuelan state music program. Meeting up again after over 5 years saw them bond over a shared love of Brazilian pop, hip hop, experimental electronica and French classical music. The beginnings of Ran/Run's debut E.P. were written in and around Sydney, Brisbane, Caracas and Bogota before being finished by the two of them in Pete's studio . Drawing on the diverse influences already listed as well as classic salsa, ambient and sixties psychedelia , the E.P. is the first taste of the duo's distinct sound.
