Launched on his 50th birthday in February 2010, Greg Wilson compiles a celebratory selection of 7” singles from his formative years. Covering the 60’s through to the mid-70’s, when he started out as a fresh-faced 15 year old club DJ, these records embody the soundtrack of his youth. With running times of approximately 2 hours, the 12 individual monthly parts will conclude in a full day’s worth of music.

Havin' a freakishly early-spring Saturday over and up here in Maine U.S.A. We've opened the windows for the first time since... October, maybe? Anyway, Random Influences #1 has served as our soundtrack, making this glorious day all the more beauteous. Thank you kindly, Mr. Wilson!

@Cathcam: Thanks for the kind offer, but I'll be able top get this up and running myself. SoundCloud have enabled the download function once again, so everything's right with the world again!

@disc0bitch: The kind folk at SoundCloud have re-instated the download function :-)

Greg, I think we can donate, or give a gift to you to get more downloads... I did it for another account... I'd like to keep them on soundcloud and be happy to contribute a couple of quid for each mix... great stuff, enjoy the tour, shame I wont get to see you in El Paso. ++Mark.

@disc0bitch: Apologies - I've tried to get SoundCloud to sort it, but no luck as yet. I had no idea that they had a limit of 100 downloads - just thought I was limited to 2 hours length. Given the situation, I'm going to find a permanent home for Random Influences, where each of the series are always available and downloadable. Currently away on tour until the end of the month, but I'll update you once I get back.

Its as though someone has stepped into my neuronal circuitry and picked out every seven inch I have ever loved, a sublime walk down sonic memory lane. Hardly surprising given the selection was selected by one of (if not the) pioneer of the UK dance scene....my gods....Chris Farlowe, T. Rex, Roxy Music, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Isley Brothers, Temptations, Beatles, Bowie, Desmond Dekker, Joni Mitchell, Al Wilson, The Who, Small Faces, America, Carpenters, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Scott Walker and those are just the tracks I remember!
As the alchemical Sir Isaac Newton once said, "If I have been able to see further than others, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." Happy 50th Birthday Greg! I look forward to the future selections.
