A librarian from Singapore. Who mucks around with his Mac. He's got 10 blogs and one podcast (at last count). Discography here: http://myrightbrain.wordpress.com/my-discography ; Band blog here: http://starfishstories.wordpress.com ; first online collaborative music album, here: http://seastars2007.wordpress.com/the-album . Ivan will be delighted to hear from anyone who's heard the songs. You know, whether you find them listenable or they are not worth even the initial 30 seconds :)
Indonesian folk drum & cymbals (not quite Gamelan).
I like this break in the main rhythm (from a major to minor key). Wonder if I should repeat this. Or would it just make the song protracted and boring?
Chinese Erhu.
Chinese drums.
Grandpiano with a sub-layer of a synth.
The Peruvian panpipes came in here.
Thanks for sharing! You're the first ethnic-music group I've come across here, or in any other social software sites. Am definitely following your profile to hear what else you'll be sharing. I hope to develop some musical ideas from folk instruments and tunes.
Ooh, that got my attention!
Hey thanks for sharing this. I love how the melody shifts from a moody to upbeat one. My personal preference is to have the upbeat part longer. But that's just me. The track reminds me of the German electronic pop band "Tangerine Dream".
Love how it shifts to a upbeat melody here.
"I download my scene onto my USB"? nice!
I don't know how to describe it, but I like that slightly 'off-key' melody. Nice.
Love this part, moving from a "minor" to a "major" key. And the vocal harmonisation is great.
@ksmith99: Yes it would. But so's a term like "Neo Classical". :P
Mmm... "Pop Rock"? "Folk Electronica"?
