Organic or digital? Why not orgital? Electro or rock? Why not electrock or maybe even rock’n’rave? Natural or urban? And not least, soft or hard?
Combining the dualisms that shape our everyday reality, the new record label from Slovenia, Qualiass Records, set its mission to overcome these distinctions in unifying sound, which encompasses both sides of perception, the bright and the dark side.
Formed in 2010, the label employs longtime friends and like-minded enthusiasts within Adriatic underground to form a musical platform for the refugees from the (mainly disappointing) mainstream flow of creativity.
While not being driven by money making or pussy-hunting, Qualiass Records aims to showcase fresh sounds and music from the always ambiguous region between the Balkans and West Europe. Basically, it is a “f**k the genres” as opposed to “feelings oriented” relationship which drives the labels release schedule, following the multidimensional cultural perspective of artistic production between electronic and organic music.
As such, it represents itself as a musical outlet of a wider social movement DrMr, which tides the basic interdependence between culture and nature, urban and country, night and day & other “isms” thru social activism and cultural events that challenge all the senses (even the sixth one).
Based around the central artistic figure Qualiass, who evolved thru a decade of releasing music on various imprints such as Red Ant Records, Minimal Records, Plastic Park, BRM, Sidechain Records, Amniotik, K4 Format etc. as Qualia, Qualia Six, Qualia 6 and Qualias Dead, the label will release fresh and unique neoclubbing material, accompanied with live band performances (as seen recently at festival openings for Klaxons) and legendary kaleidoscopic dj-sets across the region.
New dj sets coming soon, however, some older sets and production can also be found here:
