Torsion field is a pseudoscientific concept loosely based on Einstein-Cartan theory and some unorthodox solutions of Maxwell’s equations. The torsion field concept was conceived in the Soviet Union by a group of physicists in the 1980s. The group, led by Anatoly Akimov and Gennady Shipov, began the research as the state-sponsored Center for Nontraditional Technologies.

Coming from different musical and social backgrounds the “Torsion Field” conspiracy theory is one of the few themes that brought Alex Mendez and Fernando Fonseca togehter, one of the most improbable music duos ever.

But their differences about almost everything were smoothed out when they shared a flat in Berlin, while both were attending an advanced musical studies course. That and some mutual friends that challenged them to make some music together.

“Collected Items” is the fruit of this on-going collaboration between the two. With Alex’s propensity for broken beats and Fernando’s passion for smooth ambiences and glitch inserts, the resulting tracks take us into a journey to unknown places wide and open.
