Most kids are brought up on a steady diet of cereal, milk and Sesame Street but in the case of twenty-two year old Nick Marsh aka PUBLIC, he skipped the cereal and went straight for an eclectic mix of Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Bowie and Whitney Houston (before she had met Bobby). Learning to play the guitar at the young age of eleven, Marsh soon started experimenting with different genres and projects that range from solo acoustic to creating a post-hardcore band with the moniker PUBLIC. It wasn't until he enrolled in the Berklee School of Music in 2007 that he was able to hone in on the other aspects of music he so dearly loved as a child, such as melodic keys and heavy bass lines. Only a year later, Marsh stepped away from Berklee, and decided to give rebirth to PUBLIC, now as a producer/performer. Using primarily Moog keyboards, vintage drum machines and analogue racks he creates an original soundtrack for kids that want to move their feet and has been setting fires to dance floors all over San Francisco and Los Angeles ever since. In the projects short life, PUBLIC has already headlined huge club nights such as BLOW UP, Cinespace and Creme de la Creme. Just recently his music caught the attention of Grammy nominated The Crystal Method, who have played a number of his original tracks and a few of his remixes including Lil Wayne and Katy Perry on their Indie 103.1 radio show "Community Service". The group has taking such a liking to Marsh that they have invited him to open for them at the Vanguard in Los Angeles on October 10th, 2008. All this after just three short months of playing live... and if you ever do get a chance to catch a performance don't expect the average Serato DJ set up, as Marsh prides himself on recreating all his music live, sometimes with musicians by his side. It's early, enjoy what PUBLIC has created thus far, but only expect his offerings to be way more impressive as time does its thing.
