Girls aflame, shattered disco balls and mysterious manifestations of ironware on stage
were a sure sign of mind and matter in uproar when the two one-man bands
Psychonautilus and The Plastic Bags fused into the duo Psycho & Plastic.
Knit together tightly by touring across Germany several times, theses two music nerds
and sound fetishists spent countless kilometres on the Autobahn talking shop. From on
the road, their way led directly into the recording studio, where they produced the EP
Excessive Exposure as Psycho & Plastic. A perfect match.
Psycho aka Psychonautilus aka Dr. Thomas Tichai holds a PhD in Sonic Arts from
Liverpool School of Art & Design. Apart from the avant-garde Electro-Kraut-Hop of
Psychonautilus his biography is spiked with compositions for film, theatre, dance and
countless improvisations between music, noise and sound art.
Plastic aka The Plastic Bags aka Alexandre Decoupigny shines with international
stipends, residencies and art projects, e.g. a major project for the New Society of Visual
Art Berlin (NGBK). His work as The Plastic Bags thrives on a strong affinity for Clicks
’n’ Cuts, Electronica, Neo-Folk and can be found on several Canadian releases.
In Combination, these solo artists’ different horizons and backgrounds interlock into a
multi layered sound world - playful and straight, dancey and brainy, analog and digital,
instrumental and bilingual.
