    Arrangement by James Fraser
James also played all instruments on this song.

"Sixteen hours in the wind and rain.
Rise in the morning and do it again.
Seven days a week just to make ends meet.
To feed the kids and shoe on their feet."

Granddaddy said as he cut his first tree.
Times will be better for you and me.
Grandma smiled as she took his hand.
Thankful for their piece of land.

Down through the years the family survived.
Through the depression they were barely alive.
If they didn`t have storms the summer brought drought.
The sixty`s snows almost wiped them out.

I married my wife in eighty three
Daddy died that year he left the farm to me
I was next in line so I filled the gap.
Didn`t see it coming I was caught in the trap

I`ve heard people say they envy me.
Living out where the air is free.
If they had the chance they would breakaway.
They wouldn`t say that if they had to stay.

I may not be where I want to be.
There bound to be worse off than me
I thank the Lord for mercies small
But if bad luck left I`d have none at all
