Nate Raubenheimer, also known under his producer pseudonym, Protoculture, is one of the most celebrated producers on the psytrance music circuit. The Cape Town based producer’s high energy live shows and signature euphoric productions, along with support from renowned international Dj’s such as John 00 Flemming and Christopher Lawrence, make him one of South Africa’s biggest dance music exports.
His debut album “Refractions” released in 2003 with UK and South African based Nano Records, garnered much attention for Nate as a producer. Since then he has gone from success to success with his second studio album “Circadians” along with numerous singles and remixes on various international labels, along with appearances on compilations such Hitmania UK’s “White Label Republic” and Ministry of Sound’s “Gatecrasher: Christopher Lawrence live in Moscow”. Protoculture’s many remix and collaboration projects include artists such as Binary Finary, Atomic Pulse, and Goldfish.
Nate’s music has also taken him to all four corners of the earth, with a globetrotting lifestyle few other South African artists can claim to have. A long list of international gigs have seen him travel to Europe, Asia, South and North America, rocking dancefloors with his high powered live shows and Dj sets. Most notably, Protoculture has performed at Glastonbury and the Glade Music festivals in the UK, Earthcore Global Carnival in Australia, Creamfields in Brasil, as well as residencies at festivals like Mother Prosuction’s SOS festival in Japan, and Universo Paralello and Kaballah in Brasil, sometimes to crowds in excess of twenty thousand people.
