Just like photographers might want to use a true color chart to make sure their gear is calibrated I would like some input on some well produced Techno and House tracks.
What I find the most interesting here is how everyone keeps trying to avoid just that part.
It does not mean that Im going to make songs like the reference tracks. Its just for comparison folks!

aye, hip hop was a genre made, to me it seems, on the basis of sampling old music to rap over the top. i like old school hip hop, but again see that's where i cant argue my point. i enjoy it, and respect it and that it 'was' a skill. you'd spend days / weeks trawling shops and collections, it took time and effort.
but this drum and bass wave of amen break abusers
the sound of the amen break in dnb makes me feel a bit sick, i can't listen to it, because its always there, its like hearing your alarm clock when you've accidently set it to go off at 8pm and it gives you that shudder.
The main thing i dont like about the amen break is that it gives a track instand groove. wack it in, bang, straight away you got a semi decent track purely on a rhythmic basis (some do fuck it up, and they should be ashamed ;D)'if you think it isn't 'great' what a good artist can do with presets, then i would love to be proven wrong by you, producing a track using a preset sound or whatever. and naturally, the track would have to make the floor move and the boot-ays shake, and in general be a crowd pleaser. =D'
i've produced tracks using presets on my course, it scared me, because it was so much easier. // is it right that i use presets to gain marks for my university degree?? everyone else is// i was worried that will this be a drug that ill not be able to go back from starting sounds from scratch.
either way, i knocked up 2 x 1 minute tracks in near enough 1-2 hours. i'm not sayin they're awesome, but they are good (they werent 'dance' though) - Neateye
