Genre smashing Melbourne band, Polo Club, deliver on their quick ascent as one of Australia’s most innovative musical acts.
The release of their debut album “The 13” (mastered in L.A by Dave Cooley of Stones Throw Records) in 2009, saw original members Dyl Thomas and Cam Chapman crafting a slamming slab of indefinable pop/club stadium bangers. Shortly after release Polo Club toured the album nationally with good friends Urthboy and Horrorshow. ‘The 13’ received album of the week on Triple R and numerous plays on Triple j.
Polo Club were approached to produce a remix of ‘Mondays’ by Tzu which featured on a deluxe edition of Tzu’s ‘Computer Love’ album along with remix video clip now on You Tube.
The live Polo Club outfit has now been expanded to a 4 piece outfit consisting of Adam Fitzgerald, Aidan Mclaren, with the creative direction still being handled by Dyl and Cam.Over Polo Club’s career they have shared stages with the likes of Hudson Mohawke (UK), Jehst (UK), K-os (CAN), Atmosphere (USA), Ghostface Killah (Wu-Tang), TZU, The Herd, Muph & Plutonic just to name a few. Polo Club won the Triple J unearthed competition in 2009. They have played Parklife , Good Vibrations, The Hills Are Alive and The Push Over Festivals.
2011 saw Polo Club release a full length FREE album/mixtape called “Don’t Believe The Hyper Colour”. With 20 original remixes of famous artists like Lil Wayne, Cee-lo, Phoenix and Goldfrapp, “Don’t believe The Hyper Colour” quickly became a sort-after download on blogs all over the globe.
In their own words, Polo Club have come a long way since their debut, honing their skills and adding 2 new members to the live line-up which has the whole of Melbourne city talking about their engaging live show. Polo Club are back in the studio writing and recording their new album set for release in 2011, with a fresh new approach and basket of ideas, it is sure to turn ears and heads and take music in a brave new direction.
