About
Used to be known as "pleasuredj" Simon Neal AKA Plaindialogue started his musical journey back in 1991, buying vinyl every week and
learning to mix during the early ravescene. Soon he started to appreciate the more soulful/musical aspect of
the ravescene and looked up to DJs such as LTJ Bukem, Fabio and Grooverider, Kenny Ken, DJ Rap among
many others during which he started to DJ at clubs in London and around Kent from 94 onwards - including
London Astoria and Atomix in Maidstone among many others.
Increasingly inspired to get involved in production he hooked up with Karl Miller who owned a studio and
taught him all aspects of music production, which back then was programming synths, samplers, mixing
desk and sound modules.
After just 2 years he started to get noticed and have tunes released on labels including Formation Records,
5HQ, Jazz and Bass/Shopfloor compilations, Grid Recordings (including remixes for DJ Zen), Illusion
Records (his own label supported by Dylan) then onto Strictly Digital and now Nookies new label Phuzion
Records Digital.
Since 2007 he has embarked on studying music theory to learn to play keys (Fender Rhodes/Piano) so as
not to rely on sampling for chords/movement and after a lot of searching had the fortune to find an expert
teacher of Jazz piano - Shan Verma.
Studying with Shan how music moves/rhythms/chords and using this in his productions leads him to a more
soulful sound which you can hear in all his latest tracks.
Forthcoming projects working with DJ Zen for Flip Audio to combine Zen’s tuff beats and bass with his
chord movements and other projects such as downtempo and deeper drum and bass for Nookie’s Phuzion
Digital - watch this space!
