GRENIER (aka DJG) : Say Something / Here Come The Dark Lights [Photek Productions]

2 tracks, 6.34 Photek on May 28, 2012 17:37

Born and raised in San Francisco, Grenier (the artist formerly known as DJG) landed in the world of electronic music in 2007 with his first 12” on Narco.Hz. Immediate support on Rinse FM and in the clubs from DJ’s like N-Type propelled him to the forefront of American dubstep producers early in his career.
Grenier’s production style is richly melodic and emotive while full of groove and energy. Recognised early on for a more dubwise sound, Grenier's recent productions have revealed an evolution in his music, getting deeper into bass-heavy, tech-drenched, soulful tracks.
Photek instantly loved Grenier's sound when they met in late 2011 and grabbed the two tracks released here for his recent DJ Kicks Mix. Seeing a release proper on Photek's own label, Say Something and Here Come The Dark Lights are two soulful syncopated grooves that retain the bass driven momentum of Grenier's dubstep roots and display a 90's tech influence. Sick! With a European tour this summer and another 12" forthcoming on Pinch's Tectonic Recordings, Grenier is a name you need to get to know.

You can pre-order the vinyl and digital of the single by Grenier in the Photek online SHOP now. All vinyl orders come with free digi download.
