An obvious sequel to "Qualle", this one is dedicated to the Portuguese Man o' War, which is a particularly venomous creature living at the surface of the ocean. Recorded and produced: 06-11/2009

@Phirnis: That's interesting. I almost ALWAYS come up with a name for my piece first or right in the initial stages of composing. I find that's what gets my ideas flowing. But, on the other hand, it sometimes has a tendency to stump me because I try to be too faithful to the title/idea instead of just letting the piece go where it needs to.

@Anna Pidgorna: I really like your idea of impending catastrophe. Usually, I tend to work on initially untitled pieces, trying to imagine what the sounds and fragments I'm using are reminding me of. In this case, the idea of dedicating the eventual track to the Portuguese Man o' War came to me very early in the process when I was still recording the basic sounds that would later be thrown together

Also, I am always curious about how people name their pieces - in this case, did the title come before or after it was composed? Did the title inspire the piece or did the image of the "portugiesische galeere" emerge out of the piece?

I really like the siren-like sound that slowly rises towards the middle of the piece and then slowly falls. It really adds a sense of urgency or impending catastrophe and also ties together all the short, rhythmic sounds quite nicely.

@catalogue of wonders: I really like what you read into this track, ben. In fact one of the things I find most intriguing (and probably most rewarding, for that matter) about this particular kind of music is the sort of images it seems to evoke in both listeners and even its own creators from time to time. Glad you enjoyed this one!
