Peter Murchison is a fingerpicking guitarist and also plays slide guitar and mandolin. His music is a melting pot of pre-war blues, bluegrass, and folk.
He has played with beat poet Allen Ginsberg and he has toured the world playing in the US, Asia, Europe and South America. Now located in Beijing, China.
Murchison's fingerpicking style is crisp and driving. He plays the early blues of the thirties and forties These include Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Blake as well as the great country pickers Doc Watson and Merle Travis. His modern influences include Leo Kottke, John Fahey and Jerry Garcia. He has been a prizewinner in numerous contests in the US.
