To say that Perez Massimo has made his presence felt in the New York City House Music scene can be considered an understatement. Considered by many to be one of New York City's hardest working up and coming DJ's. We can surely say that he in one of NYC's most blessed. Very few veteran, let alone up and coming DJ’s can say that they have played the legendary Cielo, NYC three times in one year. Very few DJ’s can say that they have played at the WMC in Miami, Chicago the birthplace of House Music, and in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in the same calendar year.
In March of 2010 he made his debut and established a monthly residency at The Identity Lounge, in New York City’s Lower East Side. “I used to have to bring my own mixer because the equipment there wasn’t up to par.” In January of 2011 he became a Resident DJ at Rubi R-Tres' Rendevous, NYC Monday night monthly Deep House soiree at The Sapphire Lounge. In June of that year he was named Resident DJ (rotating) at Oscar P’s “I’ll House You” at Bar 13, NYC. This was while hosting his monthly private party out of his apartment aptly titled “A Private Affair.” In July he played at Kenny Summit' (Good For You Records) first ever Dirty Blonde event at Bar 13, NYC. Later on that month he headlined Bounce NYC's first ever DEEP & SOULFUL event at The Gallery at Le Poison Rouge. In August he made his Toca-Cielo debut at New York City’s legendary Cielo nightclub. In November he opened up for Lisa Shaw and Mr. V at Bounce NYC's Black Friday soiree at The Gallery, at Le Poisson Rouge. He ended 2011 by playing at Oscar P's birthday bash at Bar 13, NYC along side Davidson Ospina and Mr. V.
2012 would bring new opportunities for him.
In 2012, as his NYC residencies would come to an end and he then decided to take his private party public. More importantly he established himself as one of the premiere “up and coming” DJ’s in New York City. In March of this year he made his debut playing events at the WMC (Winter Music Conference). In April he appeared at both the Funkbox, NYC and Are You Afro at The Shelter events in NYC. In August he was the NYC representative at the 1st Annual “East Meets West” showcase by Chicago’s very own 5 Magazine at The Smart Bar (Chicago). The end of August would be his break out moment. On August 29th he made his debut at the legendary ROOTS NYC party at Cielo, opening up for Kevin Hedge (Blaze) and Eric Kupper (Director’s Cut). A week later he opened up for the one and only Derrick Carter at the first ever Soup & Verboten event (Verboten was Nominated For Best Promoter in Paper Magazine’s People’s Choice Night Life Awards) in his hometown of Brooklyn.
On the week of his birthday he opened up the Are You Afro? party in the Green Room at John Davis’ (Body & Soul) 50th Birthday Bash at The Search Party (Shelter NYC), played along side Mr. V at DJ Disciple’s Release Party, and ended the month making his debut at Manchild Black’ and Ian Friday’ internationally renowned Global Soul soiree: Libation, at The Sullivan Room, NYC. He played internationally for the first time on October 6th, at La Reina Roja Hotel, in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico at the first ever Respect The Groove, International event. On December 21st, he was the opening DJ at award winning promoter Robbi’s birthday bash at the Sullivan Room, in NYC’s Village along side DJ Spen and CEO of the Chosen Few DJ's: Wayne Williams.
On Friday, January 18th, from 9PM EST to 12AM EST, he will be the guest DJ on Duce Martinez' radio program on http://www. HandzonRadio.com. His first official booking was Friday, February 15th for SOUP NYC' monthly event at The Sullivan Room.
