Yes sir-ee bob, you read that right. Go on read it again if you must… The Brand New heavies. Sweet.
Yes Ladies & Gentlemen… For your listening pleasure : The undisputed heavyweight heavies of funk, the uber-mensch of acid jazz, and the mac-daddies of groove…. It’s the Brand New Heavies. 13 Fresh new cuts recorded over four days at the pedigree studios. Dunk your trunk.

We have always been fans of the good work the heavies have done for funk, so inviting them down to record an album with us was always on the cards, it was just a matter of when. We managed to squeeze them in just before they embarked on a Japanese tour. Here are the fruits of those magical sessions: Some old school acid jazz, some bouncy funk funk, a few classic disco cuts and some sublime chill. Classic, classic, heavy, heavy. Funky.

Uber-grats are well and truly in order: To Andrew, Jan & Simon for their funk, Paul Ablett, for the hook-ups, Robert Harder for his recording skills, Nichol, Jim & Danny for their Horny horns and The fella whos name I forget for all the teas, coffees and cabling.
