Two years later and UNER has done it again, this time with something new for his own record label, Paulatine. The release is a product of the Catalan producer's quest to discover distinct sounds for the label. A fusion of styles fitting somewhere between melodic techno and imaginative house, the collection trespasses through the synthetic and organic realms. Its name, "Sixthousand".
The story behind this release stems back to over a year ago when UNER reached 6000 fans on Facebook. To mark the occasion he announced the launch of a remix competition in which the winners themselves would complete the EP. However, the release date was pushed back when more time was needed than had originally been foreseen. Along with working on this new compilation, the Paulantine boss has also worked with several other labels such as Cadenza, Visionquest and Cecille, multiplying the original figure of 'six thousand' followers by almost five.
In addition to the fine original cut, the completion of the release was down to the results of the remix contest. The winners of the competition were chosen on their ingenuity and originality as well as their ability to demonstrate a more creative approach. The result? A mix of producers and contrasting styles from all around Europe. These include names such as Float; a Serbian producer who bases his remix on a more minimalist techno and the German No Kretr, who chooses to use deeper and darker shades to recreate the track. The frenchman Ephti fabricates a whole new journey through the rhythm of broken beat while the closing track of the EP, by Polish producer Robot Needs Oil, is described as the freshest interpretation of "Sixthousand".
