Endeavour. Persistence. Inspiration.

The above words still mean something, contrary to popular evidence. Just ask Paul Loraine. The former promoter for long-running Bristol party Loco, now based in the Welsh capital of Cardiff knows a thing or two about all of the above.

Over the years Loraine has played alongside the very best - frequently through the many residencies he’s held. And when we say ‘the best’, we mean the best: John Digweed, Jay Haze, Fergie, Tim Sheridan to name but four; and performed for some of the biggest club brands across the country, including Global Underground and Bugged Out. Naturally, he’s learnt a few things on the way.

A clubber’s DJ and a producer’s producer, Loraine’s first ever production ‘Pins & Needles’ was signed to Fabric regular Danton Eeprom’s respected Fondation label, picking up support from big-hitting names like Dubfire, Magda, Steve Bug and Laurent Garnier - not to mention props from across the board of the electronic music press - along the way. Meanwhile, the fact that three of the worlds’ most respected electronic labels, Four:Twenty (the Bristol imprint which helped launch the careers of the likes of Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich and Tim Green), Germany's Lebensfreude Records and America's Nightshade, have recently come calling for remix duties from Paul should tell you a lot about the esteem in which he’s held.

With nigh-on two decades of experience behind him, Loraine has seen fads come and go, but stayed true to his guns while moving with the times. Currently pushing a sound which takes in everything from blissed-out afterhours joy (the ‘Wish You Were’ release for Pi Records) to more muscular, floor-friendly justice, it’s a sound which tells a story of where Paul’s been, and more importantly, where he’s going. And luckily, you’re invited along for the ride.
