@Talking_Meat: I think in general my Caustic tracks tend to be better structured than my guitar tracks. Caustic tracks are "New song preview (Caustic 3.1 beta)," "Caustic3 new track preview," and "Insomnia (slightly updated)." Third one is kind of a fun electronic tune, second is more of an epic, dramatic piece, and the third is...I don't know, but it's cool. :P
@Talking_Meat: Thank you! The guitar tone was pretty simple actually--I recorded direct into the interface and then reamped it with my Marshall before adding just a bit of processing in the Reaper DAW. Totally agree about it needing some more structure though. It feels very "loose" in its current state. I guess that's a problem I run into a lot--I can easily come up with ideas, but it's a lot harder to figure out how to string them together, which is why I end up with a lot of WIPs and only a few completed songs. For this one in particular, I had only really the part from 1:15-2:52 fully worked out before recording. Pretty much everything else I wrote in the same day and I only had a rough idea of what the parts should be without really having anything firm yet, so it's almost like this was half improvised, which would explain some of the meandering and guitar wonks.
I really like the guitar tone, suits the mellow vibe nicely. I think you have some good ideas here, nice harmonies, just needs a bit more structure to really come together.
@Patrick Tow: :-)
