Another song about struggling with sin. I was feeling pretty helpless when I wrote this song. I was on a family road trip to Iowa in June of 2010, and I came down with a fever at the hotel where we were staying. As a result I was too tired to go on the family 5K run my family did with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Inspired by a cable TV show about songwriting, I started writing down another prayer (a lot of my songs are just prayers with a melody). I came up with this. It's one of my best.

This emptiness - I could've sworn it wasn't real before
Now it's just the place I dwell
I need a shot of something to make me feel
I've been numb ever since I fell
Can't think in a straight line
I'll step on a land mine
Traps I set for myself
In my own mind

It's like a coma
But my eyes are wide open
And I can see and hear and taste but still
I'm stuck inside this shell
I need a lifeline
Or at least some life support
Beause alone is not alive
Alone isn't living

Medication kills
I eat my happy pills
But the kind I really need
Doesn't come from a pharmacy
I want out, so wake me from this never-ending sleep
Yeah, I can see the light, but I can't reach you - I'm too weak

It's like a coma
But my eyes are wide open
And I can see and hear and taste but still
I'm stuck inside this shell
I need a lifeline
Or at least some life support
Beause alone is not alive
Alone is a living hell

So pull me from the mire
Refine me with your fire

I'm waiting for you
I'm aching for you
So take me for you

I'm waiting for you
I'm aching for you
So take me for you
