8 Plays1 Comment Epically Quirky Indie Pop mp3Original backing track by Mr Bish and vocal provided by Parker Airspace. Not the best mix ever, but I'm (Bish) a long way from my monitors, so mixing on headphones at the moment... 31 Plays Fuzzy Death Glam Pop mp3Hello hello, sorry this is later than promised, totally forgot to upload it earlier... So this is an instrumental originally by Mr Bish, with a rather catchy vocal added by Parker Airspace. It's a little over-compressed, and as with 'Iona', not exactly *finished*, but getting there. Certainly,...Iona Uploaded by parkerairbish Start following Send a message on September 15, 2009 19:01

a lot of 'mid' hungry stuff here, maybe some eq'ing?

@mmii: Hmmm. Yeah, know exactly what you mean. It's difficult cause I've not had a decent space to get my monitors set up in to mix (curse wood floors), but I'm actually counter-intuitively trying to overload the mid-range (with a little scoop for vocal clarity), on the basis that this is very much a pop remix of P.A.'s original song (it's his vocal btw), and being pop, I'm aiming for that radio/grotbox -friendly sound, which means leaving the bass empty apart from the sub synth and kick, and not putting anything too important in the high end, where it'll go missing on most shitty radios (so just using it for that slightly-too-shimmery hihat/ride and the attack bits of the glok, a little pick noise on the acoustic guitar riff and a tiny bit of vocal sibilance : all of which can be cut almost completely without totally destroying the mix)... So I'm a bit concerned that if I did what I'd normally set out to do, with parts spread a bit more evenly across the spectrum, it'd sound much better on a proper system, but pretty empty on a shitty grotbox... What you think? I know it's cluttered, but I've tried to counter that by using some automated fades on parallel-compression busses for the main groups, so they kinda ebb and flow over each other, and obviously using different verbs (hopefully not too much, but hard to tell without a decent room to mix in) to get the illusion of depth...??

I like this...I'm thinking of Crowded House!

...speaking of Crowded House, bringing up the harmony voices a bit might be nice here.

This is the first song we did. "Iona" is a song by Parker Airspace - you can stream the original on his Myspace. Mr Bish ruthlessly reworked it - the instrumental is on his SoundCloud page. Let us know what you think of it.
Even with the mix thing, i like this with it's epic feeling. well done
