So either you buy this idea or you don't. If you can entertain the notion that there might be qualities in music that would appeal to a sentient machine, play along.

If that sounds like nonsense, this remains a bunch of synth-heavy, pattern-rich songs you'll still enjoy. I tried to make the narrative stuff present but not too intrusive to the music.

For at least 10 years, I've had this idea for a mix "narrated" and shaped by audio from other creative works into something like a theme. I dabbled with it for the Paczki Run mix, but I thought it would be cool to do the full experiment as my first continuous mix with songs of my own choosing.

I spend most of my time writing instructions for computers, and most of the remaining time consuming what they spit out. It was natural to want to think about music from a machine's perspective.

But these are also accessible songs. I picked things that never lose their human pulse beneath the electronic one. I don't think there's anything here that comes off as Rutger Hauer cold.

If you like what you hear, please consider supporting the featured artists by buying their music or attending their shows. Follow any of the links below.

Having finally done this, I might revisit my idea for "The Daniel Ocean Mixtape." But I promise my next mix will be more conventional.
