The name Papa November comes from a now inactive short-wave numbers station, that featured a female voice repeating the words ‘papa november’ between blasts of discordant noise. Inspired by an ever increasing and varied record collection, the sonic possibilities presented by home recording and a desire to create his own language in sound, Tonge set to work, adopting the name Papa November for his music and sound projects.
