About
Lush, diverse rocktronica from London singer, musician and composer, Ben van der Poorten.
Paaliaq’s creations stem from an intense and lifelong love of the possibilites of sound and music - an adoration for the strong, fierce hues of rock, the soft timbres and warm elegance of orchestral instruments, the rich, vibrant rhythms and scales of other cultures and the spacious, organic vibes of electronica.
Paaliaq aims to meld and express all these influences into an evolving collection of fine music that hopefully brings something new and beautiful to the scene.
Thanks for listening.
"Keepi is absolutely amazing" - Random Thoughts on Random Music review, Feb 8th 2011.
"I was a little anxious cause I couldn’t tell if Paaliaq would be a shitload of crap or a mesmerizing discovery. And? . . Paaliaq IS mesmerizing.
Moody, ballad-like melodies played mainly by guitar and/or piano, pretty classical and, therefore, almost tribal, ritual-like drumming with a pretty cool electro noise from time to time and an interesting male voice that leads the whole... I was surprised that a debut album could be so well arranged and performed."
Grab new album 'Hexacoral' - a Pay-What-You-Want release, packed with 12 rich and splendid tracks of further fire, shadow, space, drive, bass, chimes, balm and colour.
