@theclassy Most of what you said is true, except that part about how if he hadn't been proud of this song he would have refused to put it out there; that's not how creative control works. When a record label takes creative control away from the artist, the artist ends up having very little say in the final product. They might (as it may be in this case) have some input here and there, but if the record label wants a song to be released, there's very little the artist can do about it. If he were to complain about this situation or talk about how bad his music was, he'd be breaching his contract and the record label might consider dropping him.
