About
Andre Rodney aka Oranje2000 as he is known to his friends and music fans is a rising rapper from Tottenham North London, UK. Oranje2000 started rapping in his teens when he was at High school. Oranje2000 attracted an audience and learnt the structure of song writing which eventually led to him writing his own bars.
The teen who always hanged around with people older than him got the name Orange as an insult when they picked on him. He decided to replace the “g” with a “j” due to fear of a law suit from the mobile phone company Orange. In 2000 he began to take music more seriously and this amid the 2000 in his name Oranje2000.
He joined a music group called Venom, becoming one of four members. The group released a mix tape called ‘Jackin Beats’ and was popular in the Tottenham neighborhood; but sadly it did not work out and the group members decided to work on solo projects.
As a solo artist determined to make the best out of a bad situation for him, his ex-group members and his family’s sake. Although he grew up around people who broke the law and behaved in an anti-social way, doing what he now describes as “stupid things”. Oranje2000 considers them to be his role model, as they taught him about the world and inspires most of what he writes about today.
Oranje2000 released mix tapes and various singles. His most recent single is a hip hop ballad entitled “Don’t be surprise,” released in September which is about the modern day life in deprived areas. The song tackled issues of family and financial problems and was made for the charity My London to raise awareness and reunite his community which he believes was destroyed during the recent UK riots. Oranje2000 is currently under management from Connect Music.
The ever improving rapper has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve in the music industry, aiming to become a legend. His journey to success has already begun and he welcomes you and me to be a part of it.
