Alixandro R. Sánchez, artistically known as Optimo, was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington, D.C. His style and musical concept are based on a contemporary fusion of tropical rhythms, Pop and Rap.
Formerly known as Grupo Optimo, they made their album debut with “Optimo FDL” in 2007 with Sony Norte. The album included the hit single "Conéctate" along with a bilingual cover of the Bee Gees' disco classic "How Deep Is Your Love?” A year later, Optimo released its second album “A World Tour”. Shortly after the release of their sophomore album, Optimo left Sony and became a solo artist, now known as Optimo.
In 2013, Optimo signed an exclusive management contract with CA Music and “Sold Out Manegement Corp.”, who also represents international superstar, J Alvarez. Since coming together and uniting forces, Optimo has begun to leave its mark in the music industry. Some of these achievements include a successful European tour confirmed for 2014, and a successful sold-out concert at the historic Coliseo de Puerto Rico in November 2013. The concert also included the participation of Farruko, Luis Vargas, Divino and Grupo Manía.
Optimo recently filmed the music video for their latest single “Duele” in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. "Duele" is a story about heartache. It describes the pain of accepting that you are no longer loved by your significant other. The single offers a refreshing mix of classical Bachata, but with an urban twist. This song has become a fan favorite and to add to that success, a remix is soon to be released featuring the new leader of the urban movement, J Alvarez.
Future plans include a second promotional single titled “Un Hombre Llorando”. Also, a new album titled “Amor de Guerra”, which will be released in the spring of 2014.
