Thank you for voting this track through to the shortlist of this competition: .

This track is the result of an experiment in crowd-sourced composition, a large SoundCloud-based idea collaboration. On 8th July 2011, I released a piano improvisation and invited you to compose something over it through posting timed comments as idea prompts:

[SoundCloud Mass Collaboration seed track. Please see description] by Oliver Sadie

Exactly one month later, 8th August 2011, I present to you the finished article, the result of going through each and every comment you made and making a compositional decision from it. There are very few ideas that I have not applied, e.g. electric guitar, but only because I couldn't do it justice.

As well as being a collaboration by timed comments, it also features a part not written by me: Zefora sang 18 layers of a vocal track (6 alto, 3 soprano, 4 bass, 3 tenor, 2 solo) which features in this final mix.

Thank you SoundClouders for composing this piece for me, and thank you Zefora for singing your song in it.

Thanks also to patrickytting for some very detailed feedback on the orchestral mix - I hope I've put your advice to good effect!

Another shout out goes to ADON360 who heard the seed track and wrote these spoken lyrics to it, thanks man!

If you enjoyed this, I write about this and other compositions regularly on

Can anyone come up with some track art for this? Message me with link to your pic.
