Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Monstaboy first came together and started to produce music from as far back as the early 90′s at that time the Acid house scene was all that people were talking about up and down the UK Techno and Drum & Bass or Jungle as it was known was fast emerging as the music of choice and this was reflected on Nottingham’s very own pirate radio station RAVE 101.7FM which was being run by David at the time Steve was soon on board with his very own show and the two would soon strike a friendship through their love of music.
Fast forward to 1999 By this time music had progressed a lot there were so many different genres and styles coming out and Nottingham had it very own Garage music scene
Around this time Monstaboy had produced a couple of white labels with a new 2step garage sound that were picked up on dubplate by all the top dj’s at the time, then a chance meeting with a local singer called “Denzee” saw the two produce their most memorable track to date “I’m Sorry” once again Radio 1 dj’s The Dreem Teem dropped it for the first time on their sunday morning show as the 30 yarder tune of the week it went on to be nominated for a UK Garage award 2001 and went on to become the all time no. 3 peoples choice garage classic
Eventually it was released with no video and no promotion from the record label XL Recordings but still achieved an impressive chart position reaching no. 25 shifting over 35,000 units in its first week it was also featured on well over 100 official compilation albums plus at the last count it has 4.2 million combined YouTube views to date it is easy to see why even now live performance and dj bookings are still be sought by promoters from near and far keeping Monstaboy consistently at the heart of the UK music scene!
13 years on and it is turning out to be a really interesting time production across all genres is still keeping the two friends very busy as they delve into new territory with new artists things look destined to take off once again as we head towards a new era in our music.
we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support past and present.
