Bio:

The philosophy behind NoD is straightforward: the passion for music is innate, but sharing this passion is a constant learning process.

After spending many years as a lead singer in several alternative music bands touring across the Quebec province, François Coulombe (a.k.a. NoD) turned to DJing to share his ever-growing passion for electronic music. Since birth and increasingly over the last 10 years, NoD has evolved as a very versatile DJ focusing on sounds rather than brands and labels.

In 2009, he joined the influential Quebec city-based collective Music & Friends, having been run since 2006 by friends and mentors Andrei Herran (a.k.a. M.I.M) and Dez.1. Since then, he has played with artists as varied as Will Holland (Quantic) and Tommie Sunshine at bar Le Cercle where he held a residency from 2009-2011 alongside Andrei Herran for “les soirées Nouvelle Vague”. NoD rapidly built up a strong reputation in his city of origin after being heard at Le Cercle, Le Boudoir, La Cuisine, Le Sonar and Le Voodoo lounge.

In 2011, NoD moved to Montreal and quickly became involved in the city’s music scene. He played at Révolution 2011 and Panorama 2011 and 2012 festivals and earned great support from Montreal’s Eresys label as well as from Salon Daomé’s Mardi Safari crew where he made his Montreal debut. You can see him behind the decks at Edgar Hypertaverne and once a month at Salon Daomé since he joined the Beat Boutique family in early 2012 for a residency.

NoD’s sound is difficult to characterize since he likes to explore and to mix n’ match different styles. His sets are mostly oriented toward House music and usually contain deep sounds before progressing to more techy grooves. NoD’s background as a singer is hard to hide! So don’t be surprised to hear him mix lots of vocals. Don’t be shy, he’s all yours to discover.
