This week Strictly digs into his extensive DJ Shadow collection (we're talking completist here) and brings us the 2 mixes that he created for the recent XFM special on the man. The first 10 minutes showcase the ambient soundscape side of Shadow's music, increasingly rarer in recent years with not a beat in sight. The last 20 minutes are all guns-blazing, beat-rocking, classic-plundering goodness, as you would expect.
The final half hour sees a little known mix veteran make his Solid Steel debut, New Yorker Ill Chemist aka Alan Friedman, sometime Steinski associate and man behind the mysterious Break Beatles of old. His 'Too Much Information' half hour will jerk you out of your seat and make musical connections you never knew existed but were right under your nose all the time. What a show!
