Pretty :p
Great rhythm
Just got back from Estonia where they played this in Club Venus. I can't believe I'd never heard it before now. Lol - the two tracks go together ridiculously well - awesome!
Breaks with that twisted Meat Katie sound - works for me!
Crisp sounds, nice layers, warm bass - this is the direction prog should be going in. Nice one!
The quality of your sounds are really good. What software are you on these days?
Great stuff, hat off to you sir :)
@LoQuai: Thanks for the praise mate. Yeah, I was hoping it would get mastered professionally - it came joint first in the remix competition but I never heard about what would happen after that - I think it was meant to be released with the Cry single.
Didn't expect this sound to develop from the intro section - great sound. I love all the changes throughout. Good luck with the next label - awesome first release!
'Turned out kinda fun' - definitely! Great choon! I thought it was going to go tribal at first with the intro section.
I like both tracks but I prefer the funkyness of this one over the atmospherics of Clarity. Great that you two have collaborated on these.
Cool sounds mate. Reminds me of a modernised version of Slacker's old prog works back in the late 90s - that kind of twisted, dark, spacey sound.
Well done Seb, this is great! Some of the stuff out at the moment is quite bland but this is a superb exception.
Sign me up! =)
The original is awesome and, incidentally, a track I've been trying to get hold of for the last five months. This remix is awesome too and I have a sneaky suspicion I won't be able to get hold of this for a long time either. Excellent work =)
@simon-huxtable: Cheers mate. Just waiting for the Cry Remix winner to be announced. May allow downloads after that.
I love this track
Holy moly - I can hear it now!!!! Effin' awesome!
Clever transition into this section
You write some very cool, soulful and very professional sounding house - this is coming along well. I love that sweep - is that a flanged effect?
@simon-huxtable: Thanks, I was worried I had overdone the arps a bit too much.
@simon-huxtable: :) yeah, I used to DJ a lot 8-10 years ago when all the prog sounds were about and before the Dutch/German min sounds came in. All the prog has more in common with Detroit Techno now and the production is a lot more professional. I'm still trying to get my sounds up-to-date. Glad you like this tune and my remixes though - your comments are very much appreciated. Best, James
@Acelera: Thanks, the inspiration for those comes from Muse's "Time is Running Out" - near the back end of the track there is this great Tom rhythm that pans from left to right and back. My toms don't pan but I have been working on an update to this mix where they will.
@microraverecords: Thanks for the praise mate :)
@RuN RiOT: Thanks. In hindsight, I think I over did the dreamy arpeggios in the last section! Oh well, we live and learn...
@moontomonk: Thanks for the comment - really pleased you like it.
Hi Andrew, the structure and progression is very good. There's a real sense of menace in the sounds which is exactly what I look for in this kind of break beat sound. However, it seems to be lacking bass - all the bass sound I'm getting is from reverb from the kick drum (I think). If you could get some kind of growling bassline in there it would sound awesome. The rest of the frequencies are laid out nicely and the drums are really kicking ass but I'd love to hear that bass growling and powering the track along.
Excellent - really well done. Nice clarity with the production too.
I'm a big Stones fan, you know, but I've always thought that the original of this was just too tame - I much prefer the Guns n Roses version for this reason. This mix you've done gives the original the flare I think it so desperately needed in the first place.
Cool sounds and bass - reminds me of some of your earlier works on Hooj in the late 90s. Nice Work
@Magneticsound: Thanks dude, glad you like it :)
An exceptional piece of work - well done! I love it, has a wonderful summer groove.
@andrew Cox: Fixed the rogue snare - a bit less compression, a fairly wide route through a low pass filter and a little less gain, et voilà. A new final version now uploaded. =)
@Andrew Cox 4: Thanks Andrew, I'm glad you like the sound. Darn, that's a snare gone AWOL caused by some bad over compression by myself. I'm glad you mentioned it as I don't really want people to bleed from their ears! I'll adjust the compression, run it through a filter and see if I get a decent result. Thanks again, James
Yup, this is good. Very deep and there is a strong drive created by the bass and the background sounds. The panning FX and stabs are cool (I'm listening to it on headphones and my now head is all over the place). The subtle snare drum is cool - I imagine it works a lot better than having a real punchy snare sound. Very good, I like it! Bet it would sound awesome on a big system. Have you road tested it much?
From the off, this just rocks! Quality breaks
Really great, deep sounds - so layered and rich. Some deep sounding tracks don't have a lot of energy but this works so well - it has wonderful rhythm and a great drive. Love it
Excellent mix - really great track selection and transitions. Certainly one of the best sets I've heard on SoundCloud...well done!
Smiles all round at this very twisted Dark and Long =)
This is a cool mix and I'm someone who isn't a big fan of minimal stuff, so you've done well. At the point where I write, I love this tune - it drops really well from the previous one. Lol at the Nihilism reference - I wouldn't think too much about it though as it's not the most positive outlook to have on life =)
