"Dust In Gravity" by Delerium (feat. Kreesha Turner)
Single available on November 24th.
i have followed this Delerium for many years now and although im a little taken back by the style of this track, i do like it and look forward to its release here in australia.
ITunes is supposed to be a global company and yet singles and CD's by Delerium are not available here and so i am forced to import them (at great cost might i add)
the many styles that Delerium has had over the years are varied and as a such i look forward to each release. i do like the more ambient tracks by as the hits collection showed there are many great song in there as well
Thanks you
As a Stand Alone I really enjoy this song, it did take me a week or two to come around to it though. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that Delerium has created or had a hand in. I do hope (as we all do) for their next album to be so much more (as it always is) . Love = Delerium
Although I thought there was a pop edge to some tracks on albums like Poems mentioned below they were quality. The first verse was ok I was feeling a Nightmare on Wax or St Germain style track but the chorus dives into the depths wishy washy pop. The comment Delerium aren't well known in the UK WTF? What planet are you on? Tiesto's re-mix of Silence must have been on every commerical trance compilation going and it was played everywhere I went.
I'm *so* disappointed in this single. This is too pop/r&b for a die hard new age/ambient music fan like myself.
I gave Cretu a pass with the single "Seven Lives" because there were some other great tracks on the last Enigma CD. I can only hope whatever CD this is on will have some of the raw, sensual ambiance that I've come to love.
I am sorely disappointed in this single. Definitely not the sensual ambient music I've come to love. So sad.
I add a new comment because i hope the guys take the right way about your roots, i mean delerium has delerium, fauxliage has fauxliage and FLA has FLA, you don´t need to experiment new rithms, you are the einstein´s of this sounds you own your brand. With all respect and sincerely i hope the album overcome the expectations of all.
By the way, i hope you take a tour in Mexico.
I've listened to this track once a day for three days now, and I like it better every time. I agree that it would be a good idea for Delerium to move away from the pop stuff now that Balligomingo and Sleepthief are wearing out that recipe. I will say that you don't throw around a statement like "Stone Tower with singing" without following up on it, obviously this track does not fall in that category, so wait and see before dropping the f-bombs.
I'm fired up about the advertised throwback sound of the new project.
Okay, I've been following this band since 1996 or thereabouts. Karma came out just after that. It was awesome. I remember the harshly ambient early work. I know their sound tends to change. And while I know Delerium is *technically* more of an experimental project, the only experiment I see here is a test to see if listeners will accept a mainstream pop/R&B piece from Leeb and company. Certainly, it's effective for what it is, though not what I *expect* of Delerium. Considering Bill Leeb once crowed about how Delerium was "Out Enigma-ing Enigma" (by sampling their drum loop) I EXPECT something greater than this. Vocals are good and clear. It just seems that all the music surrounding it was an afterthought.
It seems pretty clear to me that Rhys Fulber wasn't present for this track. I know he's working on some stuff for the new album. I hope he can steer Leeb back to something more coherent and consistent to the bands proclaimed mission and ideals.
It's '80s vintage, but I do like the snare fill sample.
I can understand fans not liking the song (no my fav either) but most of you are totally jumping the gun here. This song in no way spells out what the next studio album will be like, it might not even make it on the new album. This track is to be featured on Delerium's upcoming Remix album (yes, another one). So... you know, relax!
I am not a long time fan. I am not even sure if I can call myself a fan. I've listened to a few albums every week because they go well with work. My first exposure came from Yahoo LaunchCast suggested artist/song. The first album I listened to was Chimera. Yes, I know long time Delerium fans do not favor this album nor do they favor Poem; I however like these as much as Karma. I am not into R&B, but feel that this song is as good any on Chimera and Poem. I can see why long time fans are upset. I don't feel Kreesha's vocals here are bad at all.
Personally I think a 007 theme would be cool.
Im used to add every new Delerium album to my collection as soon as it is released. This time, unfortunately, I won't. Reason is: If I want to listen to R 'N B there would be so much better stuff out there. Even better than Kreesha's uninspired hollow vocals. The lady can sing, yes, but there is nothing new. And R 'N B is often much more inspired than this track which is way to predictable, flat and not touching, not invoking real emotions. I love Delerium, Bill and Rhys have so much talent and ability but they are good in their own genre, their own Delerium like sound. To compete with R 'N B is a mistake. There are lots of good producers out there who know what they are doing. You can not compete with someone who is much more experienced, it ios not so easy. Even when Delerium started to go Pop with Poem (at least this is my opinion) there was so much creative and good spirit within the music - I have nothing against poppy tracks. But there is so much good stuff - one has to be very sure and good to compete with a different genre, at least when one is willing to get rid of the things he/her knows and performs best...
Why? Ever since Silence Nettwerk has been pushing Delerium for the next 'big one' and they sure have a good feeling about this track, but It's a stand alone. Rest assured their upcoming studio album will be more reminiscent of old Delerium. They stated this with Nuages and came through with a less 'poppy' more soundscape album. (So if you haven't heard Nuages Du Monde because you gave up on Delerium go check it out; plentyt of old school sounds on there) Delerium has also claimed the next album will be more like what we heard on Nuages, "Think Stone Tower, but with vocals" - They said that!! The album won't likely drop till fall next year at best so be prepared for some Remix and Acoustic filler till then.
And about Dust in Gravity, sure it ain't Metaphor or Remembrance, Temptation or Twilight, Desert, Amnesia, Deluxed or Heaven's Earth. It's certainly no Consensual Worlds, Daylight, Forgotten Worlds or Just a Dream, Enchanted, Duende.... but it's a song Delerium wrote and it's catchy. Listen past the vocals and you hear Deleriumesque drum breaks, synths and strings. And sure you may not like it, but think about Coup De Tat, Magic and Touched and tell me this is still the 'worst Delerium track ever' ;)
Let them make their money, until they go all out with a full on pop album have a little faith!
Let's get one thing straight: this song does not suck. It is a catchy, well produced, RnB-flavored pop song. The thing is, this type of song has been written over & over again. There is nothing original here, and given the obviously capable talent of Team Bill & Rhys it is quite a disappointment to see such talent wasted on what appears to be an exercise in shifting genres.
Ultimately the question is why? Beethoven could write fugues just as well as Bach---just listen to his late quartets---but what touched his admirers most was his pioneering use of dynamics and harmonic structure that pushed the envelope and made his later pieces so revolutionary. Instead of wasting his time writing "The New & Improved Art of Fugue" or what have you, he wrote the 9th Symphony.
I know all serious artists get to a point in their development at which they want to try something radically different, but next time please try something radically different that hasn't been done before. Delerium stop following and start leading again!
Ok, enough over analyzing one silly song...and just let me play it one more time... :-)
It seems like "everyone" here is negative, so just to break the ice, I love the song !!!!!!!!
It has been so long since the last Delerium album, so naturally anything new is going to get my interest. Most people here think this is Delerium going mainstream and I completely agree. Sad, really. Nothing particularly bad with the song or the singer, its just, what do the kids say, "meh"? Yea, that. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings because I am sure they were excited about this song, the singer, and the upcoming new album to put this much into promoting the new single, so it has to hurt to read all these comments. All I can say to that is that the really early Delerium albums took a LOT to appreciate what they were trying to do and only after the album "Karma" in 1997 (an attempt at mainstream I might add, with Sarah's beautiful voice), everything Delerium has done since has been wonderful.
I will hope that this album will be considered a "misstep" when it fails and Delerium will be back in less than 24 months with a true Delerium album. I always thought that they would someday get Sarah back for Karma II, this might be a good time to do just that.
Delerium has alway had a unique sound.......this is not it!!!! The vibe you get is that you listening to a demo tape of someone who wants to sing for Delerium. They have used many female voices in the past--- Kristy Thirsk has always been my favorite!!!! There is nothing ethereal about this women voice. NEXT!!!!
whine whine whine whine whine whine whine whine
This song is horrible. I am a long time Delerium fan but in this song I don't hear any Delerium. The singing is horrible, and the thing about mainstream is that it sounds the same as every other Top 40 song.
What I loved about Delerium was its unique sound. Oh well time to move on to better groups.
I like the song... but as a longtime Delerium fan I'm a bit disappointed. To listen to Delerium was always something special. An undefined way of listening to music, just special. Now this is really mainstream. Sorry, but this is really too much Pop. Anyhow I listen to it but looking forward to some new "special" songs like it is typical for Delerium.
I really don't want to be negative, I've been such a huge fan for so long...and am used to exceptional music from you, time after time. On its own, this song is mediocre at best; but as a Delerium song, falls terribly short.
Whats next... the 007 maintheme? im a big fan, this track really disapointed guys i hope this entire album don´t sound like this...
If I didn't know it was Delirium, I would say it is a nice, catchy, but ubiquitous track: good arrangement, vocals and beat, but it is an album track at best. Let's hope it is just that!
For me, only the quirky song title shows it is a Delirium work.
How can it be on a par with Twlight, Metaphor or Just A Dream? Though Delirium's music is very experimental, it should not lend itself to a tilt at RnB just because it's the trendy thing to do.
Delirium are not very well known in the UK, and let it stay that way; they have a unique, uplifting sound and because of it, I own some of the most beautiful albums ever produced.
worst Delerium track ever
this song not looks like from delerium looks like from a kreesha turner pop album and song is good but her voice sucks.delerium dont waste money by making video for this song
NO! This is so mainstream and predictable! It sounds like Macy Grey. So not Delerium signature sound! :(
Hum, been a fan of Delerium and FLA from the start, but I'm desappointed with this track, good sound treatment, the voice is not bad, but the song is not that good, perhaps the remixes will convince me
It sounds too top 40ish to me. Something you would hear on regular radio. Its not sexy and alluring. :(
What happened to Delerium?? Geez...so much for your unique sound. The song isn't bad, but it isn't you.
I agree. Please NO. Yuk.
I have every Delerium CD and have been a fan for years. If the new one is going to sound like this I won't be adding it to my collection or downloading it.
I was so excited when I received this email and am now so very, very disappointed.
Is there a problem with this track? Is it a copyright infringement, is it spam or are there problems with the sound quality? Please let us know!
