About
Hi , here Franco Sonaglia , independant musician and lyrics composer, guitar player, bass player, singer, arranger. I live in Fabriano - Italy (also I was born here in 1966). My musical roots are tied to english progressive rock from the seventies. From the age of 11 I started listening to such a complex and charming music that Genesis, YES, King Crimson, UK, Pink Floyd produced in those years. Living in a small town I haven't had the opportunity to find musical partners to build a progressive-rock band. From the late eighties the "new" computer-era have made possible to express in autonomy my vein of music compositor . My first compositions (not published on this site) were performed using some old multitracking gear available at the time (PC plus Tape to sync for MIDI). Finally in the nineties the computers have become powerful enough to manage MIDI and audio together. It was at that time that my home studio was re-designed and a full sets of (more professional) equipments was gradually gathered. My activity tends to be out of the "main stream" because I follow such a strange utopia that plays like "you exist to serve music, is not the music that exists to serve you" (though it was a concept already in my brain I admit that I read the previous adage in the Bill Bruford's biography ... and Jamie Muir told him the same adage before). So, if a miracle won't happen, my activity in music will be just an hobby and my music will be a gift for my sons (all my music is Trademarked by SIAE) or just a souvenir for my descendants!! Since I have not any type of constraints or ambitions of career, I make music in freedom no matter how much crazy or conformist can sound time by time. Depending on the "spirit" of composition it will be complex or pop, but (I hope) always original or intriguing for who will have the patience to listen. I hope you'll enjoy my music. . Franco .
