BIOGRAPHY
Agnese Gracis aka N.E.K.O. was born in a small town near Venice.
She grew up listening to the electronic-rock that her sister Valentina enjoyed, played by versatile musicians such as Moby, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Daft Punk, Madonna and Mousse T. Her love of music knew no bounds and covered all genres: from classic music to rap, from rock to house, and when she was 13 she started guitar lessons.
This was soon followed by a modern-jazz singing course, which led to her first public performances and to working with artists both in the Jazz sphere such as the guitarist Lino Brotto and in Trip Hop with Bob Cornelius (one of today’s Bloody Beetroots).
She also found the chillout and house music world fascinating and fell in love with chillout artists of the calibre of Thievery Corporaration, while being attracted in the house music sphere by the deep groove of Jimpster, who she considers her first “maestro”.

In 2004 she worked with Leo&Omar Omv (Kina Music, Ostwind Records, 4line Records) and just a few years later she brought out “Souvenir” with Kaledj on Clubstar Records.
The town where she grew up is decidedly small, but all the same it gave Agnese the possibility of getting to know formidable personalities who were great sources of inspiration for her, such as Dariush (Great Stuff, Yoshitoshi, Kadabra) working with him on various tracks and remixes, DjDa (Street King, Great Stuff, Night Drive Music) and Cosmic Cowboys (Ostwind, Trenton, Kina Music) working with them for three years in conducting “Wellnesstime”, a chillout programme on a local radio (Radio PiterPan).
2010 has been a turning point: the intense deep house influences of the past and, in particular, getting to know Aki Bergen (Neurotraxx, Plastic city, Kolour Recordings) have made nEko realise what she really wants to do and she has started to produce her own pieces that express her real nature.
N.E.K.O. is especially attracted by musicians from the north; she calls them “evanescent souls” and looks to them for inspiration.
Listening to her pieces that are so different from each other, it is impossible to classify N.E.K.O’s music as just one genre. What can be said is that the music has a melodic and melancholic soul. N.E.K.O. tries to convey her desire for change, whetherthrough house music, rap, soul or chillout, in which music is a leitmotif between the ocean deep within and the reality, however small or large, of the outside world in which we live.
