SCRIPTURE: Acts 2:1-8, 11b-18; John 15:26-27, 16:4b-15
As Jesus’ disciples huddled together in fear, the Holy Spirit entered their dwelling in rushing wind and tongues of fire, and the Church was born. We put on elaborate celebrations for Christmas and Easter, but Pentecost is equally important. Without Pentecost, the disciples would not have had the courage to go forth and spread the gospel. The Spirit that was promised to the prophet Joel is active in our world today, granting visions and dreams to our old and young alike. The power of God to create and renew life is the power of the Holy Spirit—a power we see in Jesus, as he comforts his disciples before his death.
See you Sunday as we celebrate the birth of the Church!
