Xentonalism Variant tunings / microtonality
Along similar lines to the Meta-Slendro Cloud Studies, but using a pelog-ish subset of Kraig Grady's Centaur scale. It's used in three different octaves, each octave running through the pattern at a half the speed of the one above it. To me it sounds kind of like a gamelan music box. Made with Csound/blue.
Here's the scale: 1/1 21/20 7/6 3/2 14/9 2/1
Which is a subset of the full Centaur scale: 1/1 21/20 9/8 7/6 5/4 4/3 7/5 3/2 14/9 5/3 7/4 15/8 2/1

The creation of a harmonic sound cloud is very interesting!...I've made a similar purpose in my composition "InUtero" with the sound of J.T.Bullitt...come and listen to it, maybe you like that!

Beautiful glassy sound, maybe even stained-glassy :)

I enjoyed this piece very much because it successfully blended aspects of a historical tuning, sonic qualities of a historical assembly, but also made something original and beautiful out of it. Well done!

@TJ Ries: Thanks. Not too creepy, I hope. Not that it's a bad thing.

@TUNEDIN 52: Thanks! Though I have many others, don't have this particular one. Here's another great one to check out: http://luckypsychichut.blogspot.com/2011/10/bali-hommage-wayan-lotring-1972.html

Nice to read the theory behind such wonderful sounds. I guess you have this album but thought I'd mention it just in case, it's an amazing piece of history and music archive..j http://www.amazon.com/Music-Gods-Fahnestock-Expedition-Indonesia/dp/B0000009PI

This is gorgeous. My initial thought was "Oh hey this kind of sounds like a ghostly gamelan" and then remembered that a Pelog is some type of Indonesian scale (right?)
